Bing It or Google It

Google lost 0.6 % search market share in April, dropping from March's 67.1 % to 66.5 %.
While, Microsoft's Bing saw the biggest increase with a total search market share of 17.3 %, This is a  0.4 % increase in April 2013, which is a significant increase from April 2012, where Microsoft had only 15.4 % share.  Last year in September Bing launched their online campaign "Bing It On", which offers the same search results as Google.  Bing revealed that since the launch of their campaign over 25 million people in the US have taken the Bing It On Challenge, and most people prefer Bing search results over Google.  Will Bing break the "Google habit" ?

So I would have to ask who is better ?

I personally prefer the most popular search engine, Google  Am I just part of the "Google habit"?

Research shows that Google still remains the most popular search engine in most countries in the world.  But remember the story of David and Goliath. You just never know what the future holds.

Have an awesome day !!!!

Benefits of Internet Advertising

People are to a large extent greatly dependent on the internet.  The modern world of today would not function without the internet.  The internet is used for work, social and to do online shopping and is used by people of all ages, from children to the elderly.  Our lives have changed so much since the launch of social media sites,  finding and meeting people has become as easy as a click of the finger.

The internet has also become the most effective medium of advertising, and is fast replacing the more traditional forms of advertising such as magazines, newspapers and television.

With online advertising you cover a much wider geographical area. You can also specify the coverage, thus ensuring a better advertising campaign.  You decide what your target market will be.  When you compare the cost to other forms of advertising, online advertising is the cheaper form of advertising.  It is also easier to track your response.  There are so many analytical tools available.  Your cost of advertising is also determined by the number of clicks, resulting in qualified leads.   One of the best advantages of online advertising is the conversion rate.  You know exactly what you are paying for.  There are no grey areas.  With all the information available to track your online campaign you will know exactly what you are paying for.  Brilliant.

Online advertising spend is on the increase.  More and more people are turning to search engines like Google to find what they want.  It is crucial to make sure that you as a company are where people will be looking.  If you are not there you could be loosing potential clients on a daily basis.  For companies SEO could be the most important advertising decision they make.  Optimising your website and securing 1st page ranking on Google is so important.

Enjoy your day

Google VS Yellow Pages

For over a century the yellow pages have dominated the direct print advertising market.  Everyone who was anyone advertised in the yellow pages.  It was the most sort after form of print advertising and the ROI was great.  Who would have thought that the product would  be dying today.  If I think back just 10 years, the yellow pages were still considered your most reliable form of print advertising. Almost overnight all that changed.  The next big thing had taken over the market.  How do you compete with Google?  The yellow pages was once a household name, now dominated by Google.  The phrase "just Google it" is uttered everywhere.  I do not think that there is a person in any "first world" country that has never uttered those words.  The great thing about Google is how user friendly the product is, even a small child could use Google to search for information.

I just have to ask what the next big thing will be?

Enjoy your day

Interesting Facts about Google !!!!

Have you ever clicked on the "I'm feeling Lucky" button on the home page of Google?  The button is there, yet it is almost never clicked on.  I am using the Google Instant, so when I type in the search bar,  the "I'm feeling Lucky" option disappears.

However, if I just click on the "I'm feeling Lucky" button it takes me directly to the Google Doodle page. I was hoping for something great and exciting to happen. A doorway opening to another universe.  Light to start flashing and a voice calling me to step into the light !!!!!  But nothing like that.  What a disappointment.  :-(

Have an awesome weekend.

Understanding website analysis

Web analytics has always been an important aspect of digital marketing, but only recently has it been considered critical to success. So what does Web Analytics actually mean?  Web analytics is a generic term meaning the study of the impact of a website on its users. Therefore, Ecommerce companies often use Web analytics to measure data by tracking details such as how many people visited their site, how many of those visitors were unique visitors, how they came to the site. This can maximize any marketing campaign giving results of active participation in reposting, driving conversions and results.

Web analytics is critical to measuring the success of your website as you identify opportunities to improve your business and marketing initiatives. Most marketers are confused with business implications of analytics reports, so it ends up being simpler to track what you know. Thus it is important that you understand SEO.

Here are some handy tips:

  • Firstly, look at your websites Home Page.
  • Make sure your Home Page is attractive to the end user.
